Maryland recruiting roundup: Matthew Burrell cuts list to 15, Ashton White names Terps leaders

Deltron Sands is still looking for other offers, and plenty of high-profile visitors find their way to College Park.

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Basketball:

Three-star St. James (Va.) point guard Justin Robinson picked up an offer from Creighton.

Maryland offered five-star 2016 Gil St. Bernard (N.J.) shooting guard Tyus Battle.

Four-star Virginia shooting guard Josh Reaves is transferring from Paul VI to Oak Hill.

Football:

Four-star C.D. Hylton (Va.) offensive tackle Matthew Burrell cut his list to 15 schools, and Maryland did not make the cut (while Iowa did). The list appears to be in alphabetical order except for the Hawkeyes, which makes me think they were a late addition after the 14 powerhosues. It's a bit of a surprise, as the Terps had received a visit for Burrell and I did expect them to make the top 15, but they were never expected to be serious contenders so it doesn't really matter anyway.

St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) running back commit Deltron Sands is still looking for some offers, particularly from Florida and UCF. This was an expected outcome, and I still fully expect him to end up in College Park.

Three-star Bishop McNamara (Md.) cornerback Ashton White visited Maryland and reportedly has the Terps as his top school.

Three-star St. Joseph Regional (N.J.) center/guard Tommy Hatton visited Maryland and will also be visiting South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia Tech -- the teams that comprise his top four, along with the Terps. The most interesting part? Hatton says he no longer has a leader. South Carolina was rumored to be on top for the recruit, with the Terps in second place, so it's possible Maryland has made up some ground here.

Three-star DeMatha (Md.) athlete Tyler Green reportedly visited College Park, and if the headline ($) is to be believed, has the Terps "on top." That would be a pretty major break from what Green previously said, which seemed to indicate he was heading out of state. Landing a big-time prospect out of DeMatha would be gigantic for the Terps.

Three-star Gonzaga (D.C.) wide receiver Jabari Greenwood, who the Terps previously looked to be out of the picture with, visited Maryland.

Maryland will have a high-profile visitor this weekend, as four-star Wake Forest-Rolesville (N.C.) running back Bryce Love will be in College Park.

Three-star Ed White (Fla.) running back Javarius Davis will make his college decision on July 21, with a top five of Clemson, North Carolina, Louisville, Maryland and Wisconsin.

After receiving an offer from the Terps, four-star 2016 Imhotep (Penn.) tight end Naseir Upshur spoke with Terrapin Station, mentioning Vernon Davis as a potential drawing factor.

Four-star Friendship Academy (D.C.) offensive guard Quarvez Boulware picked up an offer from Florida.

Three-star Ridge Point (Texas) safety Jameel Cook picked up an offer from Iowa State.

Four-star 2016 DeMatha (Md.) offensive tackle JP Urquidez picked up an offer from Texas while camping with the Longhorns and took a visit to Baylor.
