3-star Delaware CB Darnell Savage commits to Maryland

The Terps continue to grow their 2015 class with the addition of Delaware's top prospect.

Maryland has received another commitment for their 2015 football class, as cornerback Darnell Savage has committed to the Terps. Savage is Maryland's 14th commitment in the class, joining cornerback Kareem Ali and safety Jameel Cook as the Terps' secondary commits.

Savage, listed at 5'10" and 172 pounds, attends Carvel Academy in Delaware, and is considered the second-best prospect in the state by the 247sports composite. He is rated as a three-star recruit, and is considered the 63rd-best cornerback in the nation. That's probably the most likely position for him at the next level, but he is also listed as a running back and holds the vague tag of "athlete."

Maryland was Savage's first offer -- he later received others from Old Dominion, Temple, Syracuse and Rutgers. The Terps have gone to the Delaware well before, with success, bringing in Brandon Ross, Jarrett Ross and Evan Mulrooney.

Cornerback is a position of high importance for the Terps in this class, as they look to replace the graduations of Dexter McDougle, Isaac Goins and Jeremiah Johnson over the course of two seasons. Savage was one of the top corner targets for the Terps, and helps strengthen their pipeline in the small state. He'll join three-/four-star cornerback Kareem Ali as the Terps' two players currently committed at corner.

Here's a highlight video from his sophomore season. Enjoy.
