High School Highlights:
How'd He Get to College Park?
Twine was somewhat of a sleeper coming out of Quince Orchard High School, with Maryland being the biggest program to pursue his services. He was recognized well within the state, however, as he was named a consensus all-state selection and was named first team All-Met after his senior year.
Twine was a play maker in high school, raking up 18 tackles for a loss, forcing four fumbles and pulling down three interceptions during his senior year. Still, that wasn't enough for him to earn any other major offers outside of Maryland's.
Profiling the entire team
Since arriving in College Park, Twine has had a kind of up and down career. He had a great freshman year, earning starting time following an injury to Demetrius Hartsfield. Twine had a fine sophomore year, sharing time at linebacker with Kenny Tate. Last season, Twine started in three games, but battled some injuries throughout the season.
Nickname:
Pete suggested Twine Time last year. I don't know if I can think of anything better. Ball of Twine?
Career Highlight:
Ten tackles against Boston College last season.
Dream Season:
For Twine, the best news would be if he was fully recovered from his injury that he sustained at the end of last season, bouncing back and again being a significant contributor at the SAM position and on special teams.
2014 Prospectus:
Twine wasn't listed on the Spring depth chart due to recovering from an injury, so we don't know fully where he'll land once he's ready to go this fall. He was limited in Maryland's Spring game, so we likely won't know where he fits into the defensive rotation until Maryland opens camp this summer.
Twine will likely (weird, we can't really make that joke anymore) be in a similar role to last year, but we'll have to see how he has recovered from his labrum injury.
