Maryland recruiting roundup: Florida commit Marcus Lewis to visit Terps

The Terps offer a top area point guard and more free recruiting coverage.

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Shortly after Maryland target Josh Reaves announced his transfer from Paul VI to Oak Hill, the Terps have offered another Paul VI guard -- four-star point guard Kevin Dorsey. He's a very capable scorer and a strong defender, and is known as a "floor general" who can quickly beat opponents off the dribble. Dorsey also claims offers from Minnesota, SMU, VCU and Virginia Tech, among others. You can watch his highlight tape here.

Five-star shooting guard Allonzo Trier is transferring from Montrose Christian Academy to Findlay Prep, located in Nevada and one of the nation's top programs.

Three-star Cape Henry Collegiate School (Va.) shooting guard Chris Clarke visited Virginia Tech.

Four-star IMG Academy (Fla.) athlete Marcus Lewis, who is committed to Florida, says he will take an official visit to Maryland. Lewis is transferring to the IMG Academy from Gonzaga in D.C., and many thought Maryland no longer had a shot after the move (or after he committed to the Gators, for that matter). He's considered the second-best player in D.C. (after Alabama commit Richie Petitbon), and would be a mammoth pickup.

Frankfort (Wv.) Terps commit Gage Shaffer received a mid-level three-star rating on the 247sports composite. He is considered the 38th-best pro-style quarterback in the country and the second-best player in West Virginia.

Anthony Wayne (Ohio) center Mason Zimmerman visited Maryland for camp.

The Big 33 Classic, which now pits an All-Maryland team against an All-Pennsylvania team, is coming up, and they've released some sweet new helmets:

Four-star The Lawrenceville School (Va.) offensive tackle Grant Newsome committed to Michigan.

Three-star Red Bank Catholic (N.J.) defensive end Jamie Gordinier committed to Miami.

Three-star Montclair (N.J.) quarterback Elijah Robinson committed to Boston College.

Four-star 2016 DeMatha Catholic (Md.) offensive tackle JP Urquidez picked up an offer from LSU.

Four-star 2016 Woodberry Forest (Va.) offensive tackle Clark Yarbrough picked up an offer from Tennessee.

Four-star 2016 Imhotep (Penn.) tight end Naseir Upshur picked up an offer from Michigan.
