Tanyi is considered an 3-star strong-sided defensive end as well as an offensive guard by 247sports. His 6'3", 245-pound presence on the line gives him intimidating versatility on either side of the ball.

The Texan said Maryland was his top choice in an interview with Testudo Times at the beginning of April. After all, the Terps were the first to extend an offer in February, quickly followed by Louisiana Tech. Other schools on Tanyi's radar included Tulsa, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

The move to the Big Ten may have helped snag the lineman, as Tanyi said he wanted to go somewhere that he could compete against the best. Academics were also an important quality he looked for in a school which is why the decision has been made.

Tanyi is Maryland's second commitment of the day, along with New Jersey cornerback Kareem Ali, and their fourth in the last week.
