Basketball:
Four-star power forward Esa Ahmad picked up an offer from Ohio State. This is really bad news for the Terps, who seemed to be in good position with the blue-chip Cleveland product who was rumored to be waiting on the big in-state offer.
Maryland offered four-star shooting guard Austin Grandstaff, who promptly committed to Ohio State.
The Terps also finally offered 2016 four-star Paul VI shooting guard Curtis Jones, who has visited College Park many times.
Three-star point guard Justin Robinson was offered by UNLV.
Football:
Four-star quarterback Kai Locksley will make his collegiate choice during the opening game of his senior season (which MaxPreps has as August 30), and says Florida State, Auburn and Maryland will make the cut to his final list.
New offers extended by the Terps (class of 2015 unless otherwise noted):
- Four-star 2016 Pennsylvania quarterback Brandon McIlwain, who has offers from Penn State, Auburn, Ohio State, Florida and South Carolina, among others.
- Three-star Philadelphia wide receiver D.J. Moore, who holds offers from Duke and Virginia, among others.
- Three-star Jacksonville cornerback Chris Barr, who holds offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Indiana, UCF and South Florida, among others.
- Three-star Houston offensive tackle Tyler Higby, who holds offers from LSU, Miami, Oklahoma State, TCU and Wake Forest, among others.
- Three-star Tallahassee wide receiver Christian Philpott, who holds offers from Miami, Penn State, Texas Tech and UCF, among others.
- 2016 Baton Rouge wide receiver Drake Davis, who holds offers from Alabama, Miami, Virginia and Virginia Tech, among others.
- Pennsylvania outside linebacker Brett Zanotto, who holds offers from Toledo and UMass.
- Three-star Texas cornerback Josh Butler, who holds offers from Miami, Baylor, Clemson, Notre Dame, Tennessee, UCLA, Michigan State and Boise State, among others.
- Three-star Pennsylvania tight end Amir Ealey, who holds offers from Cincinnati, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia and West Virginia, among others.
- Three-star Texas wide receiver Akile Davis, who holds offers from Indiana and North Texas.
- 2016 DeMatha running back Lorenzo Harrison, who holds offers from Virginia, Hawaii and Old Dominion.
- Three-star Florida defensive end Marques Ford, who holds offers from Miami, Rutgers, South Florida, Clemson, Nebraska, Tennessee and Wisconsin, among others.
Hatchling Huddle
Hatchling Huddle
Three-star quarterback Nick Johns committed to local rival Virginia, leaving the Terps very light on quarterback targets. We list just five signal-callers on the Terps' big board, but only three have offers and one of them (David Sills) is committed elsewhere.
Four-star quarterback Brady White, who received a Maryland offer a while back, committed to Arizona State.
Three-star Bullis School defensive end Jonathan Holland, who was reportedly not even being recruited by the Terps, committed to Penn State.
Three-star cornerback Ashton White picked up offers from Illinois and West Virginia.
Three-star wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside picked up an offer from Georgia Tech.
Three-star cornerback Dionte Austin picked up an offer from Duke.
We've completely revamped the Big Boards, updating them to make sure they're as accurate as possible.
