Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

The seeds, times, dates, and bracket have been released for the 2014 NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament. The big stories coming in were who would take the #1 seed - Syracuse or Duke, where would some of the "marquee" unseeded teams end up, and who would take the final non-AQ spot - Harvard or Hofstra? All those questions were answered, and more. Here's the schedule

Some thoughts

  • Duke as the #1 Seed is the right choice. Syracuse had a good shout, Duke deserves the #1 seed.
  • Virginia has been playing some big boys in the 1st Round recently, and it continues. UVA/JHU is a great game.
  • Denver/UNC continue their postseason rivalry, and boy oh boy is that going to be a Saturday night thriller
  • Loyola/Albany to kick off the tournament? More Thompson's? Yes please
  • Maryland should be higher than a 7 seed. 4-6 seed was perfectly reasonable for Maryland, and this seeding de-values "elite wins". Maryland beat the #1 and #2 seeds. Deserved better
  • Cornell is going to give some Maryland fans a scare. But Big Red has been sliding, 2-4 in their last 6, and Pannell and Mock are gone. Terps are favorites.
  • Syracuse in the last game of the 1st Round? Color me shocked.

We'll have plenty of more coverage throughout the week before the tournament kicks off on Saturday. 19 days, 18 teams, 17 games. You have to love this time of year.
