Maryland recruiting roundup: Michal Cekovsky officially signs with Terps

Some big-time visitors in College Park and notable names keeping the Terps on their lists.

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Basketball:

Lost in the hullabaloo surrounding Richaud Pack committing to Maryland and Charles Mitchell transferring out was a third roster move announced in the very same press release -- Slovakian big man Michal Cekovsky has officially signed with Maryland.

Cardinal Newman (Fla.) power forward John Collins picked up an offer from Georgia Tech.

Football:

Maryland finally received their second commitment in the Class of 2015, as Florida running back Deltron Sands pledged to the Terps.

That wasn't all in running back news for Maryland this week -- three-star Oscar Smith (Va.) running back DeShawn McClease visited College Park, and it appears to have gone well ($).

By the look of his Twitter account, 2016 four-star athlete Trevon Diggs may have been on campus as well.

Three-star Paul VI (N.J.) wide receiver Irvin Charles announced his top seven on Twitter, with Maryland making the cut along with Penn State, Louisville, Florida, Michigan State, South Carolina and Miami.

Remember Mirko Jurkovic, the three-star offensive tackle out of Indiana transferring to IMG Academy in Florida who Maryland offered last week? He's apparently pretty high on the Terps, as 247sports's Luke Stampini reports Arkansas, Maryland, Missouri and South Carolina are currently standing out for the prospect.

Maryland (and Ohio State) are reportedly still going after ($) three-star First Coast (Fla.) wide receiver Tristan Payton, despite his commitment to Florida.

Three-star Timber Creek (N.J.) cornerback Kareem Ali will visit Maryland again, per Rivals's Ryan Snyder ($).

Hatchling Huddle

Maryland is holding a camp this weekend -- three-star Wilson (D.C.) OLB Kareem McDonald will be there, as will 2016 Imhotep (Penn.) athlete Terrill Gillette, Choate Rosemary Hall (Conn.) athlete William Harris and 2016 Friendship Collegiate (D.C.) defensive tackle Taro Lipscomb. McDonald recently got bumped to three stars and could finally get the Maryland offer he's been looking for. He's a hard-worker at a position of need with significant connections in the area, and could help continue the Terps' recently found momentum in the Class of 2015.

Speaking of outside linebacker, one of Maryland's top targets at the position will reportedly be visiting College Park this summer ($). That would be three-star St. Joseph Regional (N.J.) prospect Joe Giles-Harris, who holds offers from Iowa, Boston College, Illinois, Rutgers and Virginia, among others.

Four-star Eleanor Roosevelt (Md.) offensive tackle Isaiah Prince picked up offers from Alabama and Louisville and was visited by Georgia.

Three-star Bishop McNamara (Md.) cornerback Ashton White picked up an offer from Virginia.
