Maryland and Florida State take the field in the second game of the ACC Tournament. In the opening game of the tournament, Maryland surprised Virginia on their way to a 7-6 victory over the top 5 team. The win came behind the arm of senior Jake Stinnett (7-6, 2.60 ERA) who whirled 10 strikeouts in eight strong innings. The Terps received an unexpected boost from their power, scorching four home runs (Charlie White, Kevin Martir, two from LaMonte Wade).
Florida State beat North Carolina 7-1 in their first game of the tournament. Behind ACC Player of the Year D.J. Stewart, the Seminoles and their dynamic offense are looking for their first tournament title since 2010.

Rankings and records: Maryland broke a school record in wins with their victory over Virginia yesterday. They are 35-19 (16-14), sixth in the ACC and almost guaranteed a bid to the NCAA Tournament (according to their RPI). Florida State enters the game with a 42-14 (21-9) record, a second seed in the ACC and a fifth overall ranking. The Terps are just 6-66 all-time against the Seminoles, but Maryland is riding a 10 game win streak.
