Maryland Lacrosse NCAA Tournament Gamethread: Terps vs Cornell

Maryland meets Cornell this afternoon, in a marquee 1st Round NCAAT match-up.

Matt Cashore-USA TODAY Sports

Here we are. The NCAA Tournament. Maryland kicks off what will hopefully be a long stay in May with the team that sent them packing at the first hurdle in 2013, the Cornell Big Red. While that name may scare some Terp fans after last seasons 16-8 loss, both teams are far different, and this is a 1st Round rematch in name only. I'd expect a far closer game this time around, with some high quality lacrosse on display. Cornell has a blistering offense, Maryland a lockdown defense. These are both two storied programs who always set the goal before the season as: National Championship. This is the first step.

If you haven't already (here's my lone shameless plug) here's my preview for today's game: Maryland vs Cornell lax preview

Maryland enters at 11-3, and the #7 seed. Cornell enters at 11-4, and is unseeded.

This is a strength vs strength match-up, and Maryland will have to be at their absolute best if they want to advance to next week's Quarterfinals and keep the dream of a 3rd National Championship and first since 1975 alive.

So how about some predictions?
