The Maryland Terrapins have been playing great basketball of late, on a four-game run that has culminated in the fourth Final Four appearance in program history. Despite beating a tough Tennessee team in the Sweet Sixteen, and Louisville in their last matchup, the Terps will have to hand Notre Dame its first loss of the season to get a chance at their first championship since 2006.
The Irish will be without forward Natalie Achonwa who has been a centerpiece on this year's ACC-Champion squad, but still pose the Terrapins a difficult task with other playmakers like leading scorer Jewel Loyd, who averages 18.9 points per game. Maryland senior Alyssa Thomas has scored 55 points in the last two games, hoping to get revenge after dropping a home game to Notre Dame in January.
The numbers
Rankings and records: The No. 4-seeded Terps (28-6, 12-4 ACC) finished the regular season tied for second in the Atlantic Coast Conference behind the No. 1-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish (36-0, 16-0). The Terps are 4-3 all-time against Notre Dame including an 87-83 loss in College Park this season.
Vegas: Notre Dame is a 9.5 point favorite
