Basketball:
Lose out on one Paul VI four-star shooting guard, offer another. Maryland lost "target" Franklin Howard to Syracuse, and has now offered elite teammate Josh Reaves, a 6'4" guard with offers from Georgetown and Villanova, among others.
Four-star power forward Esa Ahmad was offered by UNLV.
The final 247sports composite rankings for the class of 2014 are out: Maryland's class falls just barely to 11th (right behind Georgetown's). The ratings:
- Melo Trimble: 36th-best overall player, fifth-best point guard, second-best player in Virginia
- Dion Wiley: 48th-best overall player, 13th-best shooting guard, second-best player in Maryland
- Trayvon Reed: 76th-best overall player, 9th-best center, second-best player in New Jersey
- Jared Nickens: 95th-best overall player, 23rd-best small forward, fourth-best player in Pennsylvania
- Michal Cekovsky: 125th-best overall player, 27th-best power forward, second-best player in the Canary Islands
Football:
Maryland has been looking for a second commitment in the class of 2015 for quite some time now. E.J. Donahue committed back in October, and it's been a long six months for Terrapin fans waiting for some news.
That wait may be over soon, as Texas lineman Mbi Tanyi has told our own Justin Meyer that if no more schools show interest, he will commit by the end of spring. Tanyi and Florida running back Deltron Sands are probably the two most likely players to commit soon, but Gonzaga quarterback Nick Johns (who visited Maryland this week), McDonogh offensive lineman Ellis McKennie, Stone Bridge (Va.) defensive tackle Aaron Crawford (who will announce in August), Texas siblings Jameel Cook and Remus Bulmer and Timber Creek (N.J.) cornerback Kareem Ali could all end up pledging before the start of the season. At the very least, I would expect at least three of those names to be committed to Maryland by fall.
The Terps have offered four-star 2016 Texas wide receiver Reggie Hemphill, who holds offers from Oklahoma and Texas.
Maryland also visited two-star New Jersey linebacker Drew Wiley, an inside 'backer who claims no offers yet.

The Terps also visited a pair of teammates at the Landon School: 2015 defensive end/outside linebacker Kolby Williams and 2016 outside linebacker Keith Simms.
Kai Locksley was offered by Baylor, and released his Top Ten. Maryland made the cut, but the rumor mill has him drifting towards one of the bigger schools on his list, like Auburn or Florida State.

Gonzaga receiver Marcus Lewis, who is transferring to the IMG Academy in Florida this fall, committed to Florida.
Top local lineman Matthew Burrell was also offered by the Gators.
Running back target A.J. Turner picked up offers from UConn, East Carolina, Ohio State and Clemson.
Maryland offered three-star Arizona quarterback Brian Lewerke, who promptly committed to Michigan State the next day.
