Big Ten Network TV schedule 2014: Maryland-Michigan State gets primetime treatment

The Big Ten has announced their night-game schedule on the Big Ten Network for the upcoming football season, and Maryland's first Big Ten game under the lights will come against Michigan State on November 15 (at Byrd Stadium).

The two teams have faced each other five times before, with Maryland winning just once -- in 1950, the last time the two teams faced off.

The Terps haven't hosted a night game since their November 2011 contest against Notre Dame at FedEx Field -- their third night game of that season (if you want to be more particular about "hosting," you can go back to October 2011 against Clemson). Maryland did play in one night game last season, on the road against Connecticut. The Big Ten will obviously provide more such opportunities in the future than the ACC ever did, but having a team coming off a bowl game appearance doesn't hurt, either.

An important note: Maryland's opening Big Ten home game against Ohio State was not selected, leaving the possibility of it being picked up late as an ESPN game.

Previously, the conference announced Ohio State-Virginia Tech, Nebraska-Miami (Fla.), Michigan State-Nebraska, Michigan-Penn State, Ohio State-Penn State and Ohio State-Illinois will all be featured as night games on the ESPN family of networks (ABC, ESPN or ESPN2).

September 13: Penn State at Rutgers, 8 p.m. ET

September 27: Cincinnati at Ohio State, 6 p.m. ET; Illinois at Nebraska, 9 p.m. ET

October 4: Michigan at Rutgers, 6 p.m. ET

October 18: Nebraska at Northwestern, 7:30 p.m. ET

November 15: Michigan State at Maryland, 8 p.m. ET
