Everything you need to know about the 2014 Maryland spring game

Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY Sports

What is the Maryland spring game?

It's a football scrimmage tonight (Friday) open to the public, ending the spring practice period and allowing the fans to get a preview of the team at Byrd Stadium, while also allowing the coaches to simulate some in-game experiences.

So, like a football game, with Maryland playing Maryland?

Kinda. The scoring is different, obviously, but it will resemble a football game! Another difference? The teams may be fluid (and units will almost certainly swap in and out every drive).

What time does it start?

The game starts at 7 p.m. at Byrd Stadium, but inflatable games, face painting, and more will be available in the West end zone concourse for families and kids.

Do I need a ticket?

Nope! Admission is absolutely free.

How can I watch it?

Inexplicably, it appears the game is not being broadcast anywhere -- not even on TerpsTV, so you'll have to show up and watch it. The good news is it's free (as is parking), so you have very little excuse not to do so if you're in the area. If you're not in the area, it would appear you're entirely out of luck.

Where can I park?

Lot Z/1 after 4 p.m. is free. Fans with disabilities can park in the Union Lane Garage for easier access.

I want free stuff. What are they giving away?

From the official release:

The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a free Big Ten Network t-shirt and exclusive Pride 2.0 Spring Game Poster. A pre-game fan fest will be held in the west end zone and will include giveaways, inflatables games, face painting and more. Fans are also encouraged to stay for post game autographs and a fireworks show.

Fans who purchase or renew their season tickets at the spring game will be entered to win cool prizes to be raffled off including four (4) tickets to the game vs. Penn State in State College, Pa.

What should I be watching for?

Football! But we have a ton of other stuff to watch for in our preview.

Are Stefon Diggs and Deon Long going to play?

Kinda. They will not be participating in the game itself, but they will be involved in some 7-on-7 drills that will supposedly take place as a part of the festivities.

Is anything going on after the game?

Yep! Autographs from both players and coaches, as well as a fireworks show.

I have a different question, am unsatisfied with one of your answers, or am generally unsatisfied with life.

Ask us anything in the comments!
