2014 NIT Selection Show: Start time, TV schedule, streaming and more

After a last-second loss to Florida State in their first ACC tournament game, the Terps will have to settle for a second straight NIT bid.

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

The Terrapins closed out the regular season with an emotional overtime win over No. 5 Virginia and hopes were high heading into the ACC tournament. A berth into the Big Dance was hanging by a thread, but hanging nonetheless.

However, a heartbreaking loss to Florida State in the second round ended any opportunity to make some bracket noise, and for the second straight season, the Terps (17-15, 9-10 ACC) have no choice but to settle for a National Invitation Tournament (NIT) appearance. Coach Mark Turgeon has yet to take his squad to the NCAA tournament since coming to College Park in 2011.

Last year, Maryland posted a 20-11 overall record, barely missing the March Madness cut. As a No. 2 seed in the NIT, the Terps defeated Niagara, Denver and Alabama before falling to Iowa in the semifinals. Maryland will find out their seeding and first opponent Sunday night during the NIT Selection Show at 8:30 p.m.
