National Signing Day 2014: Three-star OT Brendan Moore signs with Maryland

Texas lineman's versatility could prove valuable to Terps

Three-star offensive tackle Brendan Moore officially inked his name into Maryland football, signing his letter of intent with the Terrapins Wednesday

The Texas lineman out of Westwood High School in Austin is listed at 6'4" and 260 pounds and could prove to be a key fixture in the trenches. In his senior season, Moore moved around on the line due to team injuries, getting experience at different positions. His athletic ability and speed allows him to play guard while his body type could perhaps serve him well as a center on the college level. Still, he has made his mark as a left tackle and is comfortable there.

Moore - rated as the 118th-best offensive tackle in the country - received offers from nine other schools including Missouri, Houston, Boise State, Tulsa and UTEP before deciding to play on the east coast. He committed to Maryland before his senior year in June.

Pete Volk, Testudo Times managing editor: There's a lot of talk about the other offensive linemen in the class, but I'm very high on Moore. He's got good technique and a frame to build off of, and the versatility to play at any of the five positions on the line.
