Christie, who played for Patchogue-Medford High School in Medford, New York, chose Maryland over an offer from Albany, but also reported interest from Boston College, Connecticut, Rutgers and Syracuse.
Christie is listed at 6'5" and 280 pounds, and is considered the 14th-best player from the state of New York and the 139th-best tackle in his class, according to the 247sports composite. He joins Brendan Moore, Derwin Gray and Larry Mazyck as commits along the offensive line -- a big area of concern heading into the Terps' first year in the Big Ten. Christie is the least highly-touted of the unit, but will help immediately with the team's depth issues at the position and could play a role down the road, likely at offensive tackle once he puts on some weight.
