The Terps' top verbal commit from D.C. has signed his letter of intent.

A big piece of Maryland's class is now official, as dual-threat quarterback Will Ulmer has faxed in his letter of intent to the Terrapins.

Ulmer, from St. John's College (D.C.) High School, is rated a three-star by the 247sports composite, which aggregates all four major recruiting services. He is considered a four-star by 247sports and ESPN, however, so it's safe to say he's on the higher end of the three-star scale. He was selected to the Under Armour All-American Game this season.

Listed at 6'1" and 190 pounds, Ulmer is one of the fastest players in the recruiting class. He is considered the 11th-best dual-threat quarterback in the class and the third-best prospect in D.C., and committed to the school in April. Ulmer chose Maryland over offers from Florida State, Ohio State, Miami and Wisconsin, among others.

Ulmer will almost assuredly redshirt, with C.J. Brown pretty set as the starter entering his sixth year with the program. Behind Brown, Caleb Rowe and Perry Hills will compete for playing time, with redshirt freshman Shane Cockerille as another possible option.
