Four-star WR Juwann Winfree signs with Maryland

One of the top pieces in the Terps' 2014 class has made it official.

Four-star wide receiver Juwann Winfree has put the pen to the paper on his commitment with Maryland, signing his letter of intent with the Terps.

Listed at 6'2" and 180 pounds, Winfree comes from Dwight Morrow (N.J) High School and was a big recruiting coup for Randy Edsall and the rest of the staff. Even after wide receivers coach Lee Hull left for the head coaching job at Morgan State, Winfree never backed down from his September commitment, and will now officially be headed to College Park.

He is considered the 255th-best prospect in the country, the 21st-best athlete and the ninth-best player in the state. Winfree will almost certainly play wide receiver in College Park, adding another explosive weapon to a talented stable at the position along with Stefon Diggs, Deon Long, Nigel King, Marcus Leak, Levern Jacobs, Amba Etta-Tawo and Taivon Jacobs.

Winfree chose Maryland over offers from Georgia, West Virginia, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska and South Carolina, among others. With the amount of weapons at the position this season, he could end up redshirting (a la the younger Jacobs), but his talent (and significantly more game-ready size than the younger Jacobs) means he's certainly a candidate to impress in camp and make an impact in his first season.
