Maryland recruiting roundup: Terps offer Allonzo Trier and seven football prospects; Damian Prince recruiting early

Well, Signing Day happened, officially closing the books on the 2014 class (barring an unlikely late addition in either Linganore's Phillip Butler or Dunbar's Darius Brown). As a result, we skipped a week on the roundup, so there's a lot to catch up on.

First, a quick catch up on our own recruiting content -- we did film reviews of Damian Prince, Derwin Gray and Larry Mazyck, and also had interviews with top targets Kai Locksley and Adam McLean. We also took an extended look at each of the 2015 football targets on offense.

Basketball:

Maryland has finally offered 2015 Montrose Christian point guard Allonzo Trier, considered the top player in the class. He's thought of as a Georgetown lean, and recently received an offer from Indiana.

Potential 2014 JuCo forward target Jordan Goodman picked up his first offer, from Oklahoma State.

Cleveland 2015 power forward target Esa Ahmad got bumped up to four stars.

Three-star shooting guard target Chris Clarke picked up an offer from Kansas State.

Football:

First off, Damian Prince is already doing his part on the recruiting trail. Take a look at these tweets about two top DC prospects, Ashton White (a Virginia Tech commit) and Marcus Lewis (a former Virginia Tech commit who is rumored to be favoring the Hokies and Clemson).

White is attending Maryland's Junior Day next week.

Maryland has offered four-star Connecticut tight end Chris Clark, who stands at 6'6" and yet runs like a wide receiver. He also picked up offers from Penn State, North Carolina, Iowa, Ilinois and Purdue, and is scheduled to visit Ohio State (who previously offered) in late March.

The Terps have also extended an offer to four-star New Mexico quarterback Zach Gentry, who claims offers from Tennessee, Louisville and TCU, among others. He's considered the best player in the state and a top-10 pro-style quarterback in the entire class.

Gentry wasn't the only blue-chip quarterback Maryland offered this week. The Terps made a bizarre offer to five-star California quarterback Josh Rosen, the top quarterback in the 2015 class, who is being pursued hard by UCLA, California, Texas, USC and Stanford.

Late Wednesday night, three-star Gonzaga quarterback Nick Johns also picked up a Terps offer. We'll have more on him soon.

Maryland offered local three-star offensive guard David Robbins, from Glenelg. He's considered a top-20 prospect in the state, and is listed at 6'3.5" and 296 pounds. He's visiting Kentucky's Junior Day this weekend, and has also received an offer from Illinois.

The Terps also offered Florida offensive lineman Tyler Jordan, who soon thereafter picked up offers from Florida, Ohio State and Georgia and a three-star rating. He is scheduled to visit Florida this weekend.

Another offensive line offer -- unrated Friendship offensive guard Richard Merritt, who is in the class of 2016. He also received offers from Auburn, Mississippi State, Miami and West Virginia.

Three-star Virginia wide receiver Trevion Armstrong was visited by Maryland's staff, as well as coaches from Pittsburgh, William & Mary and North Carolina. He attended East Carolina's Junior Day at the beginning of February, and will be attending West Virginia's Junior Day instead of Maryland's.

Three-star local defensive end/linebacker/tight end Eric Assoua attended Virginia Tech's Junior Day last week, will attend Penn State's Junior Day this week and will attend Maryland's Junior Day next week. He also picked up an offer from Western Michigan.

Three-star wide receiver Scott Washington attended Virginia Tech's Junior Day, and will also attend Maryland's.

Illinois defensive tackle Tristan Nevotne received a visit from the staff. He's not rated yet, but he's received interest from Ohio State, Northwestern and Pittsburgh so that's bound to change.

There are two new names on Maryland's running backs radar -- three-star Jonathan Forrest, from New York, and three-star LeVante Bellamy, from Indianapolis. Forrest is expected to be in town for Junior Day.

Four-star defensive end Adam McLean, Maryland's top-rated remaining target, received offers from Alabama and North Carolina.

Four-star offensive guard Richie Petitbon, the top player in D.C., picked up offers from N.C. State, Nebraska and Syracuse. He will attend Boston College's Junior Day this weekend.

Four-star offensive guard Quarvez Boulware, who attends Friendship and is considered the third-best prospect in D.C., picked up offers from Miami and Iowa.

Four-star quarterback Kai Locksley attended Virginia Tech's Junior Day last week, and set up a visit to Florida State for March.

Four-star wide receiver Brandon Polk picked up an offer from Penn State.

Four-star offensive tackle Isaiah Prince, the third-best prospect in Maryland, picked up an offer from Iowa.

Three-star cornerback Kareem Ali, another top target for the Terps, picked up offers from Syracuse and West Virginia.

Three-star local cornerback Dionte Austin received an offer from Georgia Tech.

Three-star safety Ayron Monroe, a top-10 prospect in D.C., received an offer from Iowa. He'll be attending Penn State's Junior Day this weekend and Maryland's the weekend after that.

Three-star safety target Jamile Johnson received an offer from Washington State, as did three-star cornerback Micah Abernathy. Abernathy also received an offer from Wake Forest and will be attending Junior Days at Georgia and Florida over the next two weeks.

Three-star defensive end Ryan Buchholz received offers from Penn State and Connecticut, and everything suggests he's going to become a Nittany Lion.

We've changed around the big board a bit -- it's no longer just guys who have received offers, but an attempted list of actual targets with (presumed) mutual interest to some degree.
