Maryland received some huge recruiting news, as four-star prospect and former Penn State commit Adam Mclean committed to Maryland, the prospect announced on Twitter Thursday.

McLean is a 6'2, 290-pound 2015 defensive tackle at Quince Orchard (Md.). He's considered a four-star by the 247sports composite, rating as the 121st-best player in the nation, the 13th-best defensive tackle and the second-best player in the state of Maryland. He instantly supplants E.J. Donahue as the top player in the class.
McLean committed to Penn State much earlier in the process and scheduled four official visits -- none to Maryland. For a while, it seemed like the Terrapins were completely out of it with one of the top prospects within their state. He decommitted from the Nittany Lions in mid November, and now becomes the anchor for a rapidly improved Terps' class.
This marks the second straight class that Maryland has secured the commitment of the second-best prospect in the state. Last year, the Terps signed both the No. 1 (Damian Prince) and No. 2 (Jesse Aniebonam) players in Maryland. 2015's No. 1 Maryland prospect is Isaiah Prince, an offensive tackle who still has the Terps very much in play.
McLean's commitment fills a major need for Maryland in the class, who desperately needs defensive line help with Andre Monroe, Darius Kilgo and Keith Bowers all graduating. McLean may end up slotting in at defensive tackle, but he could play an end position as well.
This now marks two prospects in a row that Maryland has beaten James Franklin and Penn State for, following the commitment of 4-star linebacker Keandre Jones. Much like Jones' commitment, McLean's could signal more to come.
NOW WE ABOUT TO HAVE ALL THIS LOCKDOWN
