The Terps defeated Monmouth 61-56 on Friday night in their first game without Dez Wells, who is out four weeks with a fractured wrist.
Freshman Melo Trimble led the way with 24 points, just four days after he dropped 31 on Arizona State. He also added five rebounds, three assists and a steal. Jake Layman added 14 points and four rebounds, while Evan Smotrycz scored four points and grabbed six rebounds in his return.

A very nice play here by Michal Cekovsky, who's starting to really show what he can do offensively. Here, the big man backs his defender down, then makes a turnaround jumper.
A big three by Jared Nickens, which came with just under five minutes left in the game. This three pushed the Terps lead to 50-40.
