Maryland survived and outlasted the three point shooting of Arizona State and earned themselves a bid for the championship game in the CBE Hall of Fame Classic. No. 13 ranked Iowa State defeated Alabama in a ten point affair, dominating inside and taking care of the basketball.
Iowa State earned a three-seed in the tournament last season but fell in the Sweet Sixteen to eventual champions Connecticut, but return a lot of talent this season, despite losing their two top scorers from last season. The Cyclones looked to star power forward Georges Niang last night and he didn't disappoint, turning in a 28 point performance in the win.
The game will be played in the Sprint Center in Kansas City, just three and a half hours south of Ames, IA, where Iowa State's main campus is. Iowa State's fans will be in full force as the Terps look to upset the Big 12 powerhouse.
Here are some things to read:
Terps have marquee win opportunity
Maryland game time, TV schedule
Three things we learned from ASU win
This is a huge opportunity for Maryland to crack the top 25, so get rowdy (but appropriate). Fingers crossed for a fast start for Dez and another incredible performance from Trimble.
