The undefeated Maryland Terrapins take on the Arizona State Sun Devils in the first game of the CBE Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City. This is the first game away from home for both teams, who have coasted to undefeated records. Maryland's gotten off to a scorching hot start in large part to seniors Dez Wells and Richaud Pack, beating Wagner, Central Connecticut State and Fordham by an average of 28.6 points a game.
Arizona State enters the game undefeated, after setting down Chicago State, Bethune-Cookman and Loyola Marymount in order. Last season, the Sun Devils went 21-12 and earned a 10 seed in the NCAA Tournament before falling to 7 seeded Texas. Arizona State lost nine players from last season and entered this season with questions of depth and experience but have found solace in the play of junior Eric Jacobsen and senior Shaquielle McKissic.
