The Maryland football team opens the week as roughly a field goal underdog at Michigan, according to odds released Sunday by Vegas Insider. The Terps opened as three-point underdogs, but the line has shifted slightly in Michigan's favor in the new week's opening hours.
Oddsmakers couldn't have liked Maryland's (6-4, 3-3 Big Ten) performance against Michigan State on Saturday, when C.J. Brown turned in one of the worst performances of his career and the Terps couldn't keep up with the superior Spartans. Michigan has had a hard season, but the Wolverines (5-5, 3-3 Big Ten) are coming off consecutive wins against Indiana and Northwestern. The slim margin of the spread suggests oddsmakers view the game as a relative tossup but favor Michigan based on having the home field.
Maryland's trip to Michigan Stadium on Saturday will be its fourth all-time. The Terps played in Ann Arbor three times between 1985 and 1990 and lost each game by at least 20 points. The Wolverines have never visited College Park, though they will make their first trip to Byrd Stadium in 2015.
