Maryland and Michigan have met three times, all in Ann Arbor between 1985 and 1990. The Terrapins are winless over those three meetings, falling by at least 20 points every time.
The Wolverines (5-5, 3-3 Big Ten) are in the midst of a challenging season. They've won three of four games after a 2-4 start, though two of those wins - over Northwestern and Penn State - came in some of the worst games of this college football season. The Wolverines have the 12th-ranked scoring offense of 14 Big Ten teams, but their scoring defense is ranked fourth.
The team's .500 overall record isn't acceptable at a place like Michigan, and a series of other episodes have caused image headaches. Head coach Brady Hoke is regarded as one of the country's most endangered bosses. If he loses his job after the season, he'll follow now-former athletic director Dave Brandon, who left his job at the end of October.
Maryland (6-3, 3-2) faces Michigan State this weekend at Byrd Stadium. Michigan has a bye.
