Brown suffered a sprained left wrist against Indiana last weekend, and backup Caleb Rowe finished the game by throwing for almost 200 yards and two touchdowns in the second half.
Randy Edsall said repeatedly over the course of the week that the starting quarterback decision would come around game-time. Nothing became clear on the matter until Brown and Rowe took the field for warmups and began working with Maryland's first- and second-team units.
