Maryland recruiting roundup: Two 2014 targets visit College Park this weekend

The Terps also extend offers to four new 2015 targets and add two possible names to their 2014 board.

Recent Maryland offer Nnamdi Egbuaba, a 2014 outside linebacker, now also has offers from Virginia and UConn. He'll visit the Terps this weekend, and then Virginia the week after that. Joining him will be fellow 2014 target Daniel Ezeagwu, a cornerback, as well as commits Sean Christie, David Shaw and Brett Kulka. Egbuaba and Ezeagwu would be a nice pair of late local grabs for the Terps -- Egbuaba is a solid all-around linebacker in the mold of Alex Twine, and the Terps desperately need corners. Especially because...

Two more out-there cornerback targets for the class of 2014 have committed elsewhere, as former Vanderbilt commit Grant Haley was one of a number of ex-Commodore pledges to flip to Penn State and Kendall Randolph committed to Kentucky. Neither of these should come as a surprise (well, the Maryland part -- Randolph was expected to be headed to either Louisville or Oklahoma), but it's two more names to cross off the list.

Maryland will visit Andrew Miles, the 2014 offensive tackle from Flowery Branch, Ga. who is committed to Western Carolina. Miles may just be a backup option to Damian Prince and Jared Cohen, or the Terps might want to bring him in as an extra option for depth regardless -- he played in a similar system in high school.

Lexington, S.C. 2014 kicker/punter Caleb Berry is getting interest from Maryland, although it is unknown whether that interest is in the form of a preferred walk-on spot or a scholarship. He's a much better punter than kicker, so that's where I'd expect him to fall if he headed to College Park, as both a backup option to Nate Renfro and a potential replacement candidate down the line. Here are his highlights.

There's another new potential 2014 target, and he's a local lineman -- Dunbar lineman Darius Brown, who tweeted that he might become a Terp on national signing day. There's not much out there on Brown, but here's a profile in the Post. He's 6'4" and weighs in at 265 pounds, and has also apparently been courted by Towson and Toledo. Here's some highlight tape, in which he is the really big guy at left tackle.

Maryland has extended a host of 2015 offers -- three-star Michigan athlete John Kelly and a trio of South Oak Cliff (Texas) teammates in J.F. Thomas, Prentice McKinney and Jamile Johnson.

Kelly is considered a strong Michigan State lean, and has visited their campus numerous times. He plays running back and free safety in high school, runs like a power back despite being listed at 5'10" and 187 pounds. Here's his highlight tape.

McKinney, a safety, has offers from Arkansas and Nebraska, and is being pursued by Baylor, Oklahoma and Texas, among others. He's big (6'2"), runs smoothly and hits hard -- he could be a strong safety-turned-SAM linebacker candidate, like Kenny Tate or Matt Robinson. Here's his highlight tape.

Thomas, a wide receiver, has offers from Colorado State and SMU, and has received interest from Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas. He also has good size (6'3") and takes advantage of that, using long strides to give him good speed. Here's his highlight tape.

Johnson, a safety, is the most highly touted of the trio, and has offers from Arkansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma, as well as interest from Florida State, Texas and USC. He has tremendous versatility, playing all four defensive back positions as well as nickelback, outside linebacker, wide receiver and return man, and combines the physical abilities of the other players with fantastic field awareness not often seen in a high schooler. Here's his highlight tape.
