Maryland football recruiting: 2014 target Elliott Davis commits to NC State, where do the Terps turn at CB?

One less cornerback target is available to Maryland, as local star Elliott Davis has committed to NC State.

Davis is a two-star corner out of Quince Orchard, considered the 41st-best player in the state of Maryland, and was a possible replacement option for Jalen Tabor. Maryland hadn't really been going after him hard for a while, so this is neither a disappointment nor a surprise, but it allows us to ask an important question. The Terps will likely look to add two corners in the class, so who's left?

Three-star Kendall Randolph (who Maryland would have to beat out some serious competition for, like Oklahoma and Louisville), three-star JuCo option Vance Roberts and local options Daniel Ezeagwu, Jamal Robinson and Anthony Fludd. Ezeagwu seems most likely (he takes an official visit next week), but it's a clear position of need so we'll see what happens.

Getting either Randolph or Roberts would be a dream come true scenario for Maryland, who could supplement that pickup with someone like Ezeagwu, allowing two corners to come in and battle it out for playing time (and provide depth).

Taking a look at our scholarship chart, the Terps have just four cornerbacks this season, with three the year after that and two the year after that. Safety A.J. Hendy will likely play dime back in four-corner sets, and a player like Jacquille Veii and Malcolm Culmer could end up switching positions, but that's just pure speculation.
