Maryland cracks AP Poll for first time since January 2011

The Terps are ranked after a bye week.

Maryland's impressive 4-0 start has begun to catch national attention, as the Terps are ranked 25th in the AP Pollheading into their clash with No. 8 Florida State.

It's Maryland's first time in the polls since being ranked No. 23 on Jan. 11, 2011 after the Military Bowl win over East Carolina. It is their first regular-season poll appearance since being ranked No. 22 on November 16, 2008 after a 17-15 win over No. 17 North Carolina.

The last time Maryland faced a ranked team as a ranked team was November 18, 2006, when the No. 21 Terps lost at No. 20 Boston College, 38-16.

It is Randy Edsall's first time coaching a ranked team since the last week of the 2010 season, when his Connecticut Huskies were ranked No. 25 prior to their Fiesta Bowl thrashing.

The Terps earned the ranking on a bye week -- they were helped by losses from Ole Miss (previously No. 21), Notre Dame (No. 22) and Wisconsin (No. 23), as well as a strong showing from West Virginia, who rebounded from the 37-0 loss to Maryland with a huge upset over Oklahoma State.
