Terps in the Pros: Checking in on Former Football Players in the NFL

Checking in on how former Maryland football players did in the NFL during week one.

Joe Vellano had a nice game for New England in week 1.

So I think I captured everyone this week, including the several players mentioned in the first installment of this piece.

Player NFL Team Position Notes
Lance Ball N/A RB Ball was cut by the Broncos last week and is still a free agent.
Bruce Campbell N/A OT Waived by Panthers on 8/25/13 and still currently a free agent.
Devonte Campbell N/A FB Waived by Atlanta on 8/31/13 and still currently a free agent.
Nolan Carroll Miami Dolphins CB Nolan might be starting after Dimitri Patterson suffered a groin injury. Carroll also had a pick for Miami in week 1.
Jon Condo Oakland Raiders Long Snapper When you're a long snapper, no news is good news.
Phil Costa Dallas Cowboys Center Could Costa's days in Dallas be numbered? I don't know...Jerry Jones does refer to Costa's finance as "Costa's Sweet Thing."
Vernon Davis San Francisco 49ers TE After catching 2 TDs against the Packers, Davis has now scored the most touchdowns ever by a tight end against Green Bay.
Kevin Dorsey N/A WR Dorsey was injury waived by the Packers and is done for the season.
Darin Drakeford N/A LB Drakeford was waived by the Kansas City Chiefs on 8/31/13 but later signed to their practice squad.
Moise Fokou Tennessee Titans LB Fokou continue to be the starter at MLB in Tennessee.
A.J. Francis New England Patriots DT After the New England Patriots put in a waiver claim on Francis, he was later cut by New England but just re-signed and joined their practice squad.
Matt Furstenburg Baltimore Ravens TE After Dallas Clark and Ed Dickson struggled to hold onto the ball in the Ravens' loss to Denver, will it soon be Furstenburg time in Baltimore?
Jared Gaither N/A

OT Gaither was cut by San Diego last week. He's waiting for a team to come a calling.
Dan Gronkowski N/A

TE Dan was cut by the Browns last week.
Erin Henderson Minnesota Vikings LB Erin, who is just now getting over a recent ankle injury, led the Vikings in tackles in their opening loss to Detroit.
Darrius Heyward-Bey Indianapolis Colts WR Heyward-Bey had a quiet Indy debut, finishing with 3 catches for 33 yards as the Colts struggled to beat Oakland.
Shaun Hill Detroit Lions QB Hill was wearing a headset all game as the Lions beat the Vikings and Stafford didn't get injured.
D'Qwell Jackson Cleveland Browns LB Jackson led the Browns in tackles, but Cleveland fell to Miami on Sunday.
Nick Novak San Diego Chargers K Novak was 4/4 on extra points and didn't attempt a FG in the Chargers loss to Houston on Monday night.
Adam Podlesh Chicago Bears P Podlesh put 3 of his 5 punts inside the 20 for the Bears on Sunday.
Da'Rel Scott New York Giants RB Scott found himself with a great opportunity on Sunday night, as David Wilson struggled to hold onto the ball. Wilson was benched and Scott got the nod. Unfortunately, his play will mostly be remembered for this miscommuniction between him and Eli, which resulted in a pick-six. The Giants resigned Brandon Jacobs, so it's unclear who will be starting for the Giants this week.
Torrey Smith Baltimore Ravens WR As a Ravens fans, I'd like to just forget this game and move on. Torrey finished the game with a team-high 92 yards on 4 receptions.
Randy Starks Miami Dolphins DT Starks apparently made an "obscene" gesture towards his own sideline after recording a sack on Sunday. He explains and apologizes for it here.
Joe Vellano New England Patriots DT Sounds like Vellano had a pretty good game for New England. He finished with 2 tackles.
Edwin Williams N/A OT Williams was cut by the Bears recently and is currently a free agent.
LaQuan Williams N/A WR LaQuan reached an injury settlement with the Ravens. There is a chance the Ravens could bring him back in the future.
Josh Wilson Washington Redskins CB Josh forced a crucial fumble as Washington tried to rally and defeat the Eagles.
Will Yeatman Miami Dolphins OT Yeatman was inactive for the Dolphins in week 1.

Also worth noting: Kennith Tate, Madieu Williams, and Kevin Barnes are all free agents right now. Did I miss anyone this time? If they sign with anyone, I'll add them into the chart. I think that covers everyone.
