High School Highlights:

You can find O'Connor's here.

How'd he get to College Park?

Gary Harraka played center, guard, and defensive tackle for St. John’s, who play in the MIAA (along with Archbishop Curley, alma mater of starting free safety Eric Franklin, and Mount Saint Joseph, former home of Dino Gregory). He was the teammate of defensive end J.R. Ferguson then, one of the top players in Virginia who ended up going to LSU in the 2010 class.

Harraka also had this short-lived blog where he kept folks updated with his recruiting status. It looks like home school Maryland was the only FBS school to really recruit him (at least in 2008), but he had a bunch of FCS schools pursuing him, including Towson, Old Dominion, Lehigh and Georgetown

Harraka came to Maryland in 2010 and redshirted, and has not seen any time on the field yet. He was named scout team offensive player of the week before the Florida State game in 2011, and received the honor again before the UConn game last season.

Dunn was a tackle and guard at Whitman, where he was named lineman of the year in 2011. He was named second team all-county as a senior, and redshirted last season. He received interest from UConn, Lehigh, Fordham and Bryant.

Maurice Shelton was born in Sasebo, Japan, sported a 3.7 GPA in high school, was a national AP scholar and a member of the National Honor Society, was a recipient of the Banneker/Key Scholarship, and majors in electrical engineering. On top of that, he plays a bit of football - he was a tackle on both sides of the ball at Roosevelt, was a second-team all-county selection in 2011, and was recruited by Carengie Melon, MIT and Delaware.

We know absolutely nothing about Dylan O'Connor.

2013 Prospectus:

Dunn and Harraka have by far the best opportunity to play this season - both are listed as immediate back-ups at their positions. Dunn is second at right tackle (sharing the spot with Jake Wheeler), but Harraka stands as the sole number two at right guard. Behind Dunn is incoming freshman Moise LaRose, and behind Harraka is Shelton. Dylan O'Connor sits as the third-string left guard.

Maryland's offensive line depth is nearing "pitiful" this year, and if any one player goes down with an injury, any one of these guys could see significant playing time. The walk-on route has worked for Maryland before (see: Gonnella, Andrew), but it's certainly not something Randy Edsall wants to rely on.

Up Next:

Our next player's last name is very close to the last word of a Steely Dan song whose title starts with "The Caves of...".
