ACC Preseason Poll: Maryland picked fifth in Atlantic, Diggs receives no Player of the Year Votes

Terps expected to finish above Syracuse, Boston College.

ACC Media Day is full under way, which means the preseason polls are coming out. Clemson has been named the clear favorite to win the conference this year, with Tajh Boyd the runaway favorite to win the ACC Player of the Year award.

Clemson and Florida State are the only two teams in the Atlantic Division to receive any first-place votes, with NC State a distant third and Wake Forest behind them at fourth. Right behind Wake is Maryland, in fifth place, with Syracuse and something called "Boston College" behind the Terps.

The media thinks the Coastal Division race will be much tighter, with four teams receiving first-place votes. Miami leads the pack, with Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Georgia Tech right behind. After that is a significant drop-off, where you can find Pitt, Virginia and Duke.

Boyd is the clear favorite for the Player of the Year award, with more than one hundred more votes than Duke Johnson, the next-best option. Logan Thomas, Sammy Watkins, Bryn Renner, Jeremiah Attaochu, Lamarcus Joyner and Stephen Morris also received votes, but curiously missing is Stefon Diggs.
