Tyler Burke Commits to Maryland

Maryland gets another Pennsylvanian defender.

24/7

Just hours after receiving the commitment of Pennsylvanian defensive end/linebacker Brett Kulka, Randy Edsall and co. have received more good news - Pennsylvanian defensive end/linebacker Tyler Burke will also become a Terp.

This continues Edsall's onslaught into B1G territory, as Burke is the third Pennsylvanian commit for the Terps, who also have one from Ohio. Burke is a 6'4", 225 pound defensive end/linebacker from Coatesville, Pa. who attends Coatesville Area Senior High Schol.

Burke is a three-star prospect across the board - 24/7 ranks him the 63rd-best weakside defensive end and the 37th-best player in all of Pennsylvania, Rivals has him as the 27th-best player in the state (and lists him as an outside linebacker), ESPN ranks him as the 24th-best player in the state and as the 33rd-best inside linebacker in the country, and Scout, with the tiebreaker, ranks him as the 24th-best middle linebacker in the nation.

Burke lists a host of offers, including NC State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse and Wisconsin, and received interest from Michigan State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Stanford, Virginia and Virginia Tech. He was named First-Team All-Southeastern PA by the Philadelphia Inquirer last season.

Here's a link to his highlight tape, where it notes he plays fullback, linebacker and tight end. Our guess is he ends up on the inside in Maryland's 3-4 as a linebacker, but he has the versatility to play all around the field.

Burke is Maryland's seventh commitment for the 2014 class.
