Profiles In Terpage - A Countdown to the Football Season: Yannick Cudjoe-Virgil

Today we profile a former transfer.

High School Highlights:

How'd He Get to College Park?

Cudjoe-Virgil was born in Trinidad, but ended up in Baltimore and attended Towson High School. While there, he was a two-time team captain and was named all-division and all-county as a defensive end and tight end. He then went to Seton Hill, a small school near Pittsburgh that plays in the Division II WVIAC.

Cudjoe-Virgil played in ten games as a freshman and eleven as a team captain his sophomore year, and put together a monster campaign during that second season. During that year, he had 44 tackles, eight for a loss, with five sacks and a school-record six blocked kicks.

After that campaign, he made the big leap to Division I, transferring to College Park and sitting out last year due to transfer regulations. He will make his FBS debut as a junior this fall.

Career Highlight:

The school-record six blocked kicks as a sophomore at Seton Hill

Dream Season:

Kujo puts together the miracle story, beating out Marcus Whitfield for the starting job.

2013 Prospectus:

Kujo is officially listed as the back-up at WILL, behind senior Marcus Whitfield and in front of junior Clarence Murphy. He's listed as a senior on UMTerps and a junior on the depth chart - we're going with junior, because it makes more sense with the transfer rules.

Whitfield has had an up-and-down career at Maryland marred by injuries, but Kujo's biggest opposition for the starting job may be the player with whom he shares a name - incoming true freshman Yannick Ngakoue.

Kujo is very strong - and at 6'2" and 240 pounds he has considerable size on him - and he will certainly see playing time this year. As a former transfer (and likely a former walk-on, although scholarship information is hard to find), he's a great story to keep track of this season.

Our next player went to a high school named after a former First Lady.
