High School Highlights:

How'd He Get to College Park?

Dennah was an under-the-radar type of recruit, lacking too many high-profile offers but wowing Maryland's coaches with his 4.4 speed before committing to the Terps in early August. He would garner some bigger offers after the fact, especially from Carolina schools, but never wavered from his commitment. He played any number of positions on defense as a senior at AACS, from safety to defensive end, and finished all-county and all-league despite AACS's winless season.

Nickname:

Elvis "The King" Dennah

Career Highlight:

Winning the MIAA B Championship as a junior at AACS

Dream Season:

Dennah's versatility and speed gets him time on special teams, where strong performances launch him into a reserve safety role

2013 Prospectus:

Dennah's unlikely to be a major player on defense just yet; he's lacking some in size at the moment, and has the likes of Anthony Nixon, Sean Davis, and Zach Dancel, among others, ahead of him on the depth chart. But you can't teach 4.4 speed, and Maryland's coaches have never shown any problem with playing youngsters who do the important things right. At least a few freshmen defensive backs will see the field given Maryland's overall lack of depth at the position, after all. But given the glut of freshmen DBs coming into the program - no fewer than five - it may be tough for him to stand out. He was generally considered to need a redshirt year to hone his craft at this level, and unless he proves to be a special teams warrior that's probably the most likely scenario.

Up Next:

Our next player's high school was so small they played their home games not only at a different school's stadium, but in a different state.
