How Alicia Spent Her Summer:
How'd She Get to College Park?
DeVaughn was a 2010 McDonald's All-American. She was the sixth ranked post player and rated 57th overall by ESPN's HoopGurlz.com. In a Florida playoff game as a senior she pulled down 32 rebounds. Alicia became a Maryland fan after the Terps 2006 National Championship run and committed immediately after her first official visit. She chose Maryland after considering Purdue, Oklahoma, Louisville and Georgia.
Career Highlight:
Alicia had a career high 17 rebounds to go along with 8 points and 2 blocked shots in Maryland's opening round win over Quinnipiac in the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
Dream Season:
Alicia becomes a force in the paint for the Terps saving her breakout year for her senior season. Alicia becomes a double-double machine more than doubling her career total of five.
2013 Prospectus:
In the dream season scenario above, Alicia consistently scores in double figures for the Terps. In truth, the team probably has enough firepower from other positions that DeVaughn will not need to be a prolific scorer. Alicia has been a stalwart defensive presence since her freshman season and needs to continue to be a force on that end of the field. The Terps will need DeVaugh to step up on the boards. With the graduation of Tianna Hawkins, Maryland lost nearly ten rebounds a game and will rely on Alicia to pick up some of that load.
