With basketball season about to kick into gear, the AP released their preseason basketball top 25 today, which features seven ranked teams that the Terps will be facing this season. The Coaches' Poll was released back on October 17th. Five teams from the ACC again made the top 25: Duke (#4), Syracuse (#8), North Carolina (#12), Notre Dame (#21), and Virginia (#24).
In terms of out of conference games, Maryland's first opponent of the season, UConn, checks in at #18, giving the Terps a big test as they try to adapt to life without sophomore Seth Allen, who is having surgery today to repair a foot fracture he suffered on Tuesday. Maryland will also get an early taste of what Big Ten conference play will be like next season when they travel to #11 Ohio State in the ACC-B1G Challenge in December. Other future B1G foes that were ranked include: Michigan State (#2), Michigan (#7), and Wisconsin (#20).
