High School Highlights:

How'd She Get to College Park?

Lexie is the highest rated recruit in another top ten recruiting class for Brenda Frese. Both Blue Star Reports and ESPN's HoopGurlz rated her the fifteenth overall player in the country and the number 3 point guard. While leading her team to the Georgia AAAAAA state championship game, Brown averaged 18.4 points, 6.9 assists, 5.1 steals and 4.9 rebounds per game as a senior in 2012-13. We usually close this segment with as sentence that starts, ‘She chose Maryland over...' In Brown's case she chose Maryland over no one offering her commitment to the Terps when she came to Maryland for an Elite Camp as a ninth grader.

Dream Season:

After making a gradual transition to the college game, Lexie will earn more minutes as she becomes accustomed to the college game. In January, she helps lead the Terps to a win at North Carolina getting a win over her high school nemesis Diamond DeShields.

2013 Prospectus:

Lexie is a natural point guard but complements those skills with a smooth long range jumper that can spread a defense. Given the riches Maryland has at the point returning two players who were named to the All-ACC freshmen team in back to back years, Coach Frese should be able to work Brown into the lineup in a way that eases the freshman's transition to the speed of the college game and allows her to give the Terps productive minutes especially down the stretch.
