5-1 was nice, wasn't it? The air smelled fresher, food had more flavor and life had more meaning. Now? Now Maryland is 5-2 with a loss to one of the worst teams in the league and down their top two receivers for the rest of the year. There's also the brewing quarterback controversy. Not to mention the defense that's reeling.
But hey, basketball season is close by!
Stock Rising:
The year 2014 -- There's no possible way Maryland gets struck with injuries three years in a row. Therefore, it has to go better.
WR Levern Jacobs and Amba Etta-Tawo -- The pair stepped up in the absence of Stefon Diggs and Deon Long and will now shoulder the load offensively. Next man up.
Stock Holding:
Randy Edsall -- Believe it or not, his stock is holding. Another year plagued by injuries won't get the coach fired.
The training staff -- They will probably get some unnecessary blame out of this. There's no way to protect from a broken leg. I don't care what anyone says, you cannot blame the strength and conditioning staff, the trainers, the coaches, anyone for these injuries.
Bowl hopes -- Maryland still is just one win away from a bowl. There is still hope.
Stock Falling:
Luck -- Maryland has none.
Everything else -- I thought there was no possible way that injuries could derail Maryland again after it happened in 2013. I, and everyone else, was wrong.
We need better karma, but I have no idea how to change that, so any and all suggestions welcome in the comments. Also, feel free to vent in the comments.
