Details About Maryland Madness at Cole Field House

Maryland basketball will return to historic Cole Field House for the first time since 2002 on Friday. Here are some details about the event.

A few additional details were released today by Maryland's Athletic Department about Friday's Maryland Madness at Cole Field House. Doors will open for the event beginning at 5:30 PM and the event itself will start at 6:30. There will be a public autograph session from 5:30-6:15 with members of both the Men's and Women's basketball teams. The annual Red-White alumni game will begin at 6:30. Based on past Maryland Madness events, the game will probably last about 45 minutes, with a few additional things happening before each team is introduced and the men's team holds an inter-squad scrimmage. If I had to guess, I'd say the introductions will probably happen around 8:00 PM, but that is pure speculation on my part.

As you can see above, the floor inside Cole appears to be nearly installed, but is still missing the appropriate painting, lines, etc. (h/t to Timothy Bowen for allowing us to use his picture). It is really cool to see a basketball court inside Cole again. I'm curious about whether they'll paint the floor as it appeared when they held their last game there in 2002.

If you've never seen a game there, it was truly an amazing experience that hopefully can be replicated on Friday and in the future, if they're able to once again hold a game there each season.

Maryland's Athletic Department is currently counting down the top 10 moments in Cole Field House history. What is your favorite? Today's memory happens to be my favorite:
