Maryland Minute 4.19.12 - Sam Cassell Jr. Deciding This Weekend

Sam Cassell Jr. announcing "this weekend"
And end is in sight, friends. Down to USF and Maryland.

Oh, and via the same guy: he feels like it'll be Maryland.

SCJ isn't a game-changer by any stretch - even less so than Evan Smotrycz - but he's a talented kid who can play either guard spot and score. Can always use that. And hey, Turgeon seems to really want him, and that's good enough for me.

The Last Word with former Maryland cornerback Cameron Chism
Cam speaks. Surprisingly tolerant of Edsall, saying the media was hard on him and he didn't deserve it. At the same time, though, he says he felt like the staff wasn't supportive of him through his struggles and he was clearly unhappy about being benched. Eh ... don't really care either way anymore. But still, interesting to get player perspectives.

Add another substantial 2014 name to the list. Once again: that's the year, folks.

Terps to use adjusted scoring system for spring game - Washington Times
Instead of it being two teams broken up into Red and White, it's just going to be Offense/Defense. Presumably because there aren't actually enough players to break into two teams.

That's somewhere between sad and funny.

A.J. Francis plugs big hole in Terps' 3-4 alignment - WT
Ha.

"We even get recognized," Francis said heading into Maryland’s spring game at 1 p.m. Saturday at Byrd Stadium. "You get production points for taking double teams, which is literally unheard of. I don’t know if that’s ever been done in the history of football, but big guys finally get the love for that, which is good."

He's put on some more weight, which is a good sign. IF he's taking on double-teams with regularity, which he likely will, it'd be nice if he was upwards of 310 - sounds like that's the region he's in now, which is good news.

ACC Lacrosse Tournament Participant Profile: Maryland - College Crosse
Our blogging brothers over at College Crosse (the immaculately-named Hoya Suxa in particular) breaks down the fourth-seeded Terrapins heading into the ACC Tournament. Sounds like the Terrapins and Duke aren't a bad matchup for each other, honestly.

In today's "they almost went to Maryland" update...
Sterling Gibbs transfers from Texas to Seton Hall. No idea why he didn't do that in the first place.
