It's been said that Maryland will be breaking in the shiny, brand-new Barclays Center in Brooklyn in 2012 against the Kentucky Wildcats. A year early for the Harrison twins, sure, but still pretty awesome, right? In fact, it was a little too awesome for me to fully buy in.
Well, I'm buying now. Big props to long-time Testudonite @DoronTam, whom you'll see tweeting NJ Nets CEO Brett Yormark the $1million question:
In indy today. Meeting with the ncaa. College sports will be big at the barclays center. Only the best for brooklyn.
@brettyormark can you give us any clues about teams? Are my terps scheduled to play? Thanks
@DoronTam. Yes they are
Okay, so no guarantee it'll be Kentucky and no guarantee it'll be the first game played in the arena, but: unless something shocking happens, Maryland will be playing in the Barclays Center. Presumably rather early, given that it's already scheduled.
And while it's no guarantee about Kentucky, it'd be a bit funky if it wasn't Terps-Wildcats, given the earlier report. It's a long ways out, I suppose, and there's a lot of time for things to change, but that'd be the obvious guess as to the match-up.
And yes, this is still awesome.
