So, Maryland released their 2011-12 basketball schedule earlier today. Not that anyone was ever going to care based on the other developments of the day, but I suppose we'll distract ourselves for a few moments to give it a glance.
It is without surprise. I don't think we ever heard anything concrete about the Terrapins playing Temple at the Palestra (as payback for their game in the BB&T Classic) but the rumors were definitely there. (Interestingly, Maryland could end up playing them twice this year, because they're also in the field for their preseason tournament.) Past that, we definitely knew about the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, Notre Dame in BB&T, and Illinois in the ACC-B10 Challenge quite some time ago. As far as OOC goes, there are no other surprises. Every OOC game minus the PR Tip-Off and Temple is at home, though the competition - UNC-Wilmington, Mount St. Mary's, Radford - isn't likely to inspire. It is cool, admittedly, that they play Isiah Thomas' FIU team.
The other revelation, I suppose, was the order of ACC games. Things start off with a road game against N.C. State, which is pretty awesome given the Terps-Yow "Gary Williams sabotage" storyline. Sadly, no Gary, but in the words of the Immortal Debbie, "Y'know, whatever." Still cool, and a win over the Wuffies to start off Turgeon's ACC career would be sublime. As usual, things end with a game against UVA.
Initial thoughts: probably around 14 or 15 wins or so. Ouch. Just wait until next year, I suppose.
