Gary's gone. It doesn't feel like it's time to move on, but we have to. There simply isn't enough time for Maryland to take this slowly. Rather soon, a coach will have to be hired.
Are you wondering what the Twitterverse is saying about the job? I certainly didn't expect to read what I read:
That crash you hear is the coaching carousel coming off its hinges. It's about to ripple through a bunch of conferences courtesy the Terps
This Maryland opening is ultra-attractive - even more so in the post-Debbie Yow Era. Just about everyone will listen if contacted.
Can't be ignored: Jordan Williams departure played into the timing of this, perhaps significantly. #terps
GMC: Names Rick Barnes and Jay Wright floating around. Wright has always been dream for Gary as potential replacement.
Most fans, people outside the basketball industry don't understand how good a job Maryland is.
Phone Tap Requests: Sean Miller, Jamie Dixon, Jay Wright and Mike Brey tonite. Gotta think those guys will hear from Terp Nation.
If I were running the Maryland search, I'd start with Billy Donovan, Jay Wright and Sean Miller and go from there.
@nickjezierny Texas, Ohio St, Kentucky, North Carolina, UCLA, Kansas, Maryland, Indiana would be my top 8 [jobs]. The next 15-20 are debatable
My initial thoughts: boy, do I feel a lot better about this than I did a few minutes ago. Go get Jay Wright or Sean Miller, and do it now. And everyone thinks Maryland is a great job. Better than Duke? Oh yeah.
