The school is seeking a waiver to preserve the scholarships. The point Maryland wants to make is that it has put remedies in place. AD Kevin Anderson, who came to College Park in October and hired a new coach in January, has a new academic support director and has created a new assistant athletics director position to oversee football academics specifically. That hire is expected to be announced soon.
Hopefully they get that waiver.
Jamarr Robinson, Ben Pooler leave Maryland football program - Washington Times
Would-be fifth-year seniors won't return in 2011. There is also talk of Edsall not continuing a scholarship for a 5th year player. I hope that's not the case nor a policy they establish, because it surely won't be an attractive way to get people to come to College Park...

Breunig's Coach Clarifies
Martin Breunig's coach read our profile of MB a few days ago, and he mentioned that Breunig really is 205. He also has played PF his entire life, just moving to the wing this year. If that's true, holy wow, he developed legit outside moves fast. -BB
Recruiting Report: Season recap: Nick Faust
Nothing but glowing words, of course.
Faust’s reputation after his junior year was "basically a shooter." This year, the future Terp developed into a more well-rounded scorer, showcasing an ability to "put it on the floor and get to the rack." As Faust adds strength to his lanky frame, Daniel expects his game to improve even more.
He also mentions that he's played PG at times for City. I wonder if he'll ever be forced into that situation for Maryland, ala DJ. -BB
Maryland ILB Alex Wujciak is an intriguing 3-4 sleeper - NFPost
Well, maybe Wuj will get drafted after all. This guy seems to think he's more likely going to have to go UDFA, but seems to think he has a decent chance at catching on somewhere. -BB
DeMatha C BeeJay Anya named to national team
Anya's a '13 prospect out of DeMatha, one Maryland will likely recruit pretty hard. Getting named to Team USA is a pretty big deal. -BB
Boys basketball: First team - baltimoresun.com
Nick Faust made the Baltimore Sun's All-Metro 1st team. Aquille Carr beat him out of player of the year. I know Carr is small, but I'd still love to have him in a Terps uniform...

Johnny Holliday was awarded the Marvin "Skeeter" Francis Award. Seriously, if you ever have a chance to talk to him, he's one of the nicest guys on earth.
