Maryland Minute 8.5.10 - Greivis Vasquez Interviews on Washington Post Live

Greivis Vasquez on Washington Post Live

Check 'em out:

Part two was great. The images of him back in a Terp uni combined with the thought of him playing for the Wiz was almost too much to bear.

Maryland a Player for Dondi Kirby? The Pennsylvania safety - and Rivals four-star - has an impressive list of offers containing Florida and UNC. But surprisingly, he'll take an official visit to Maryland. It's Insider and kinda late, but I'm running with it anyway:

"I'm going to take all five official visits," Kirby said. "I'll visit Florida, Maryland and USC for sure. Iowa is another definite. North Carolina will probably be the other one.

Uh, okay. Four star, top 150 safety gonna take officials to Florida, USC, and Maryland. One of those does not belong. I'll take it though.

By the way, Lee Hull is the guy that recruits PA, and he's killing it. If Ralph and/or Frank are gone in a year, I hope the new guy retains Hull as WR coach.

Big Duke Balls: Jordan Williams #7 Player in the ACC
Meta-linkage is always cool, so there's that. But it's also right:

While he may not have been the most polished big man in the conference, he used his bulk to bully his way in the paint for points. He only got better in conference play. His scoring increased as he produced six more double-doubles in the regular season. He did all this as a freshman and only fouled out of one game all year. That’s impressive.

Come tournament time, Williams really showed what we should all expect in the future. No longer a freshman, but rather a vet with 31 games under his belt, he went Shaq on the Houston Cougars in the first-round, scoring 21, grabbing 17 monster rebounds.

Not sure about the Sean May comparison - May seemed a bit wider and was at least an inch or two shorter than J-Dub - but it's an easy comparison to make.

Academics likely to sideline Will Barton - CBSSports.com
Shame. He was extremely entertaining and seemed like a good kid to boot. Obviously there was some academic issues there, which might explain why he ended up at Memphis and perhaps why it might've been a good thing he didn't commit to Maryland. Still, I want him to win the appeal just to see him play.

Remember Josh Selby? NCAA's Looking Into Him Too
Maryland flirted with Selby a tad toward the end of last year before quickly pulling back. Looks like he may not be entirely "amateur."

This combined with the Barton situation is enough to make you wary about Baltimore hoops in general, but I've never heard Faust in connection to anything like that. Hopefully it stays that way.

Zags: Half of the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Invites Announced
Deuce Bello is the only Terp target so far, but I can't imagine that Faust and Brown would get left out, especially with UA running the show.

Recruiting Report: First batch of Maryland Crab Bowl roster selections
3 Cavs, 1 Demon Deacon, 0 Terps. Ugh.

DeMatha DB Darien Harris chooses Michigan State
Sigh. Another one off the board.

Former Terp Omar Gonzalez, Also Known as the Future of the USMNT, Will Play Against Brazil
He takes the place of Chad Marshall, who injured his knee. That's three Terps on the roster; the game, if you're wondering, is on the 10th, and there's good odds we'll see two or three Terps on the field.
