I'm on the road right now, so I don't have a lot of time to bang this out, but Ralph Friedgen (or James Franklin) just landed his fourth commitment for the 2011 football recruiting class. It's Ryan Doyle, an offensive tackle from Wake Forest, North Carolina. His Scout profile lists him as a verbal commitment, and there's a premium story to match.
Because I'm in a hurry, I don't have a ton of time to find links on him. None of the three major services have him ranked yet, but his size - 6-6, 265 - is right along with what the coaches have been planning for the OL; tall, not huge, and rather nimble (4.9 40 is good for an offensive lineman). Gone are the days of big, lumbering offensive linemen; these guys can move.
I'll have more on him tomorrow, once I can get home and get situated properly. He'll be in the database soon.
Doyle's the fourth commitment of a recruiting class that is shaping up to be surprisingly good, considering last year. Maryland has already landed two of the better commitments out of the D.C. area and a big time stud from Florida. Doyle will fit in well with the offensive line group currently in place, but it would be premature to pass judgment on him, good or bad, until we can find out some more about him.
