Wow, lots going on in Terp land in addition to the Franklin circus. H/T to Ben B. for help on most of these links and for realizing other things were going on yesterday.
New Commitment #1: Makinton Dorleant
There had been rumors in the past few days, but he's now officially listed on all three services (Rivals linked above) as a Maryland commitment. He had recently decommitted from Wisconsin, for comparison's sake, and is Rivals' #60 corner in the class. Pretty nice pickup. -BB
New Commitment #2: QO Linebacker Alex Twine
Hopefully he's a "diamond in the rough" type of guy. Maryland was his only D-I offer. Sounds like a grayshirt candidate. All things considered, if you have an open scholarship to give, you could do a lot worse than a local Quince Orchard guy. -BB
New Commitment #3: Florida LB/S Lukas Foreman
Foreman had also been rumored to have committed awhile ago. He's an undersized linebacker who will likely become a safety and had offers from Cincinnati, Kansas, and West Virginia, among others. It's kind of weird to pick up three commitments as soon as James Franklin, the best recruiter, heads out. -BB
My take - hopefully they STAY committed...
New Commitment #4: DeMatha CB Michael Williams
We've officially reached "Holy ****" territory. Four commitments within about 24 hours, all coming directly during the Franklin experience? Whoa. More importantly, though, Williams - Madieu's little bro - is Maryland's first DeMatha commitment in the past two years. -BB
I guess if you get four commitments you can't keep everybody, too. Perhaps Maryland's best recruit, AJ Hendy, a CB from Bowie, has now decommitted. The Franklin plan wasn't without its problems. -BB
