Maryland Minute 11.5.10 - Get Ready to See Some More D.J. Adams

Adams Could Have Big Day Against Miami
This is new for D.J. Adams:

"We’re going to try to put a package together for him and see what he can do," Friedgen said. "We want to get him in the game. … He’s going to be a good back. He’s getting better. He’s just like a lot of young backs, he struggles with pass pickups and the protection part of it. That’s our biggest concern."

His family is all Miami fans, so that's kinda different, too. But after his solid performance against Wake, I'm ready to see more DJ.

Despite 6-2 record, Maryland football seen by some as unproven - WaPo
I don't think it's that they're seen as unproven. I think it's that they are. It's easy to say, "Oh, yeah, we're 6-2," but look at the six wins and show me a good team in there. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trading the record for anything right now, but I'm also not complaining about a lack of respect. I think it's pretty well placed.

Guess there's no chance he plays tomorrow then. Good thing.

Maryland AD Kevin Anderson's goal: 'Finish first in everything we do'
A nice profile piece on Anderson from the WaPo. Interesting note:

Yale Athletic Director Tom Beckett, who worked alongside Anderson at Stanford in the early 1990s...characterized Anderson as "a rising star" in athletic administration. "He is a tireless worker," Beckett said. "He has the ethics of the finest people you will meet. He's someone who values the idea of developing a team. And his skills as a leader are extraordinary."

And if nothing else, he can say the right things:

"My expectation is that we compete at the highest level," Anderson said. "Yes, I'm realistic about how some of these teams are resourced. But I can't sit down and look a young person in the face and say, 'Oh well, I don't have any expectations for you to win.' There are obstacles in life. Sometimes we don't have the resources we need. But my expectation is that we find a way. And we're going to do the best possible job. And we're going to find a way."

Absurdly Early Bracketology: Maryland at #9
Sounds about right.
